Margaret Nazon

Margaret was born to Nomadic parents in the Tsiigehtchic, NWT area.  She learned to sew at an early age and has developed her craft over the years, becoming an expert seamstress.

She studied Fashion Design at Lethbridge Community College and Business Administration at Medicine Hat College, Alberta and owns her own craft business"Nomad Designs”

Margaret is also an accomplished and recognized fabric artist.  Her work has been displayed in Inuvik, Tsiigehtchic, Yellowknife, Whitehorse and Victoria B.C.  It has been sold at the Great Northern Art Festival in Inuvik, the Moss Gallery gift shop in Victoria B.C. and the Nor Art Gallery in Yellowknife.

Since 2009 is “The Year of Astronomy”, Margaret has started creating artwork based on photographs from the Hubble space telescope.  Using glass beads of various sizes and different beading techniques, on black velvet or velveteen, she is creating vibrant light filled images of the visual wonders of the Universe.  Margaret’s approach to life is to be open and to absorb as much as one can.
