Blair Thorson
Blair grew up in Calgary Alberta and Prince Albert Saskatchewan. He is of First Nations heritage, originating from central Alberta. Blair worked as a hydrometric surveyor for many years. This work took him throughout Northern Canada, allowing him to observe wildlife and First Nations people indigenous to the lands living as they have for hundreds of years. Blair was fortunate enough to acquire a large collection of old maps and now uses them as a canvas for his watercolour illustrations. Each illustration depicts what the indigenous animals or First Nations people might have done living off or on the land that the map they are on depicts.
